Okay this is my (super) late post for 'soft', and my least favorite post for the sketchblog so far. A few bloggers I see make these sweet 60's dry brush acrylic paintings, and I always thought the feel was cute. However I stupidly didn't take any brushes home, so I only had one messed up liner and filbert to use which was quite tricky. My scanner further marred this up though, you can see the details on the cat and the woman's collar are blurred, I'm so stoked to use uni scanners again. However the most annoying thing was that while I was waiting for paint to dry I kept thinking how it would be so much faster if I just did it digitally, haa. Ugh, never again! Though it's a good reminder for me to keep experimenting!

Lost in space

Hi everyone, it's been ages since I've posted- so sorry, I'm now two weeks behind- but I'm hoping I'll be able to catch up by the end of this week (haa 'hope' is key word here). Also sorry if I scared anyone with my last post, I don't mean to be a slave driver at all! I am stoked to see everyone's work up here though, it's looking REALLY good.

Okay okay so here's my space post. I'm agreeing with Maria that literal space isn't my ideal, too freaky, so I opted out with a folk tale instead. I used the Norwegian story, East of the Sun West of the Moon (better known with Kay Nielsen's illustrations). Like Nielsen, I drew the North wind, which is that weird blue guy who's taking the girl to the castle. Oh and though I love Caran D'ache pencils, they are SO HARD TO BLEND. And erase (note the accidental orange line in the wind's hair- it'll be edited out eventually). Or atleast the water-resistant ones I have are. Also, don't judge me on my eyeball stars. You know when you're working into the wee hours of the night and you get a sudden irrational urge to do something you'll find totally dumb in the morning? Yeah...

P.S.- If there's anyone else anyone knows who'd like to join this sketch group, by all means let them in!

As everyone else I would like to follow the trend and start this post with a big sorry for the lack of posts! Excuse: no scanner and no internet! (I'm barely alive). Anyways, I made a little sketch for the Space-topic. I'm not very into space ships and aliens and all that other stuff I associate with 'Space' (other than space bars and Bowie's Moonage Daydream) so I chose to stay in my precious comfort zone (it is summer holiday after all) and drew a spaced out dude in pencil.

Topic #4

First off, ladies and gentlemen, I present the next topic:

It might not be the most explosive, inspiring word there ever was or will be, but I trust you guys to turn it into something beautiful. :D

Secondly, apologies for the lack of posting on my part. I've been away from internet and home, but hopefully I'll be able to slowly catch up on all the topics I've missed so far. For now, I'll give you a slightly rushed reply to 'feather'.

Toooootally not the most original response, I know, and I didn't exactly stretch out of my comfort zone, but it was definitely still fun to do. It was meant to be kinda like those fabulous posed something-hundreds Native American photos you'd always see on the geography/history/food technology teacher's wall. As you can probably tell, I haven't exactly done much research, so apologies if it's all stereotypical and offensive. Next time I'll work on adding a non-lineface expression, and drawing something that doesn't look like it belongs tattooed on a 60 year old man's bingo wing!

YO! Here's my piece for feather! Really, it's just a crazy old lady (apparently my fav drawing subject) feeding her extensive bird collection.

Topic Numero 3

I realize I haven't been posting any work (oops...), but I'm still posting up this weeks topic (even if it's a day late, sorry!)

Anywho, topic is: space.
